Committees

Interested in Getting Involved on a Committee?

There are lots of opportunities available!  Each committee is described below.  For more information, contact the committee chair.

RESERVATIONS/HOSPITALITY AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE
These ambassadors are the hosts of every WCR function. The goal is to create a welcoming and friendly environment that promotes networking and other values of WCR. The Ambassador Committee has been working hard to make our meetings wonderful!

This group provides the volunteer staff to work the registration table, sell 50/50 tickets, provide and organize name tags and poker chips, send greeting cards, arrange table sponsors, promote the LERN Program, and help create and implement networking activities.  The Ambassadors have also created the Networking Power Hour at our monthly meetings.  Starting at 11 a.m., we now host activities that get you talking to other members, finding out about their businesses, and sharing information about your own business.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are a number of ways you can participate with this committee:

  • Help out at monthly meetings:
    • Work at the registration table

    • Facilitate networking activities

Many activities, such as the Networking Power Hour, are done in conjunction with the Reservations/Hospitality Ambassador committee. The Affiliate Ambassador committee also organizes projects such as:

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
The Membership Committee works on both recruiting new members and retention of current members. Both of these activities are vital in order to continue growing and maintaining an active membership. This committee has many initiatives in place to grow and retain our membership:

Membership Information Table
At each of the monthly chapter meetings, the membership committee staffs a table to talk to guests and potential members about the benefits of WCR. Membership applications are available to make joining on the spot easy! There are also lots of photos on display, as well as a suggestion box, so stop by at the next meeting and check it out.

Membership Round Tables
Membership Roundtables are held to provide a forum for those interested in becoming members and wanting more information.

New Member Orientation Lunches
All new members are encouraged to attend one of the quarterly new member orientation lunches. Learn more about the opportunities available to you as a member, and meet and get to know some of the committee and board members over an informal lunch.

Member Handbook
The member handbook is a great resource that is provided to all chapter members, and contains both a handbook explaining various programs and opportunities within the organization as well as a listing of members’ contact information.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Staff the Membership Table at Monthly Meetings

  • Make phone calls to current and prospective members

  • Maintain member database

  • Host or help at new member orientation

  • Participate in membership round tables

  • Member Handbook Coordinator

  • Work on membership book

WAYS & MEANS COMMITTEE
The Ways & Means Committee works on fundraising for our group. Dues only cover a portion of the organization’s operating costs. In order to provide quality educational opportunities for our members, and leadership development for our officers, other ways of raising money are employed. Events put on by this group include:

Golf Tournament
This is one of our major fundraising events of the year and needs the support of all our members. Talk it up and get commitments for players and sponsors. It’s always a fun event. Sponsorships are available, so save your advertising dollars for this event, including hole sponsors, refreshment carts, and awards.

Business Expo
The Business EXPO is an annual event held in the fall, which not only raises money, but also serves an educational purpose. Exhibitors representing a wide variety of real estate related products and services are available to explain what they do and how it can help you in your business. Many offer discounts and ‘free’ offers just for giving them a try. Admission to this event is free to all REALTORS® in the St. Louis area.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Golf Tournament Coordinator
  • Golf Tournament planning
  • Work at the Golf Tournament event
  • Business Expo Coordinator
  • Business Expo Planning
  • Work at the Business Expo
  • And more!

PROGRAMS COMMITTEE
Each of our general meetings includes a program with a guest speaker featuring timely and relevant topics of interest to our members. The program committee is responsible for lining up these speakers for all of the meetings throughout the year.

Much of this committee’s work is done in the fourth quarter to ensure that the planning and scheduling of speakers for the following year is set by January. This allows us to publish a calendar for the year so you will know in advance who will be featured at each meeting.

New this year is the creation of a Speaker Sponsor. While there is a program budget, having additional financial resources allows more flexibility in being able to offer high-quality programs and speakers that make our meetings time well spent.

If there is a topic you are interested in, please forward your program suggestions to the committee chair. We would also encourage you to contact the committee chair if you are interested in financially supporting or co-sponsoring one of next year’s programs or speakers through a Speaker Sponsorship.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Coordinate with speakers for scheduling and arrangements
  • Contact members or organizations about financially sponsoring a speaker
  • Help plan program topics and speakers for 2008
